Lake Norman, NC Riders

I figured that such an awesome lake as LKN needs a thread, especially because theres alot of freestylers in the area. I ride around marker D9, I live by Stutts Marina and have a boat ramp and good size floating stand-up platform to do tuning and work on while in the water. I always want to ride with new people, and love to ride in winter too. I buy alot of skis, chances are if you want it I probably have it, Yamaha parts too. All the LKN riders post up!

What up, I live in Charlotte in the city but I leave my ski all the way on High Rock Lake lookin for new places to ride this coming summer. Nobody rides standups up there. Yeah, we need to start a LKN riders group.

There are a few guys that ride up at quenns landing "about 6" on SN & RN. we had jens just off torrence chapple / rusty rudder. (he back in Germany, but i beleave he's coming back in the summer, last i herd)

Myself ride at D6, at the end of Bethel Church / Peninsula.

Theres a kid that ride around the corner from meh on my old 550, (havent seen him in awile)

Cory rides in Denver / governers island allong with a guy on a SN.

I see quite a few standups on the back of trailers, but not many right around myself.


I beleave we have the potitional to bring enoulf people to start a riders group. (i need some buddies that are going to push me)

Hey everyone. Just saw this forum. I have never seen another standup rider near me. Queens Landing is about a 10-15 minute ride for me. I'll be getting my Superjet in March or April. Riding club sounds good but I can't drive yet to get to places far away. I live in Mooresville, down Brawley School. Don't know marker number I'll try to find it.

But I like it alot, alot better than couches. I have only ridden like 5 times, so by the end of the summer hopefully I'll be alright.

Its worth it for a full day of riding. Leave at like 7am and leave at dark. Cruisers are everywhere and riding w/ other riders is awesome.

Huntersville, hell im sure one of us could go get it. Where abouts in huntersville, like an address, i got a bunch of friends there. If your in moorisville there is a dive shop next to queen city tv/appliance. Im pretty sure you could get a suit for like $50.

hell yea, go get that ski! glad to see all this action on this thread. I used to work at LKN Scuba, next to Monterrey. If you go there, they might have ex-rental suits that are still like new. Ask for Danielle if she is there. I am def. game for riding at my house, it is a good setup IMO. I can fit like 20 skis tied to my dock, and have a ramp at the house. I rode just about every week last winter, it isn't too bad. I am lookin forward to summer and riding with all u guys :biggrin:

Hey Corey this is what I did to those footholdes you cut out. I still gotta sand down and fill again, then sand some more till its smooth and ready to take turf. They look different so hopefully they look straight after turf. I go this coming weekend to pick up the donor ski, this whole week will be hand sanding the inside of the footholds, but if they just plain won't work then I'll still have a spare hull next week.:cool2:

I don't know yet, I still got a while before paint, but honestly I was thinking about going to Wal-Mart and looking at the Hot-Wheels cars for a good paint color they always have some sick paint colors on those little cars.

I'm doin the same thing you two are, corey should be sending me some holds soon! I gotta fix my 650 for sale in the summer before I rip into my other ski though, but I already depoled it and prepped the fuel door cover. It was fully reinforced by wammers, and its all sound except for the pole area, so Im gonna reinforce that, re-reinforce a small section up front (comin off a bit), then sand it down, do footholds, powdercoat the pole, might get the prop repitched and cutback, paint it, gelcoat the inside, then turf it up, install a second bilge pump (fitting is on the hull for duals but only a single in it), and reassemble! Should only take about 2 weeks stop and go, I cant wait to get started, I got the pole ready for powder and might get it shot soon. :Banane01:

Yeah the crank should be good, I have electrics from it being a 650 if they work on the 701's too then I should be good, or until I hook it up and it doesn't work. I'm ready to start this build its driving me crazy. I figured when the time came I'd come over there and we would build an engine. Now I've got to start over on bodywork with this hull, so I can use the other for parts. Then the 650sx will go for cash or engine.

I really love how that ski looks though, and it has less than 1 season on it, new foam, reinforced with carbon kevlar (black and red weave). Has a XMW scupper in the normal spot, and also has a pump dump with the Lowes 1 way valve too. Front and rear exhaust, AC pole, CG racing footholds, etc.

Yeah their on the way, This is just the first shot of primer on the new hull, I closed up the gas door, and have the hood mod almost finished. I'm using the hood and gas door from the hull I got from you cause I had started the hood mod, and door mod when I got the other one.

Stickers: The first batch will be 12" by 1.5". Im not sure exactly on cost but if they dont cost too much i'll just give them out for free.

Well there in!!(footholds)But only screwed and foam'd for now tommo. I'll expoxy them in clean em up. Maybe get up early to have time to turf everything up, rails, nose tray! Also got the steering cable in, that was a bitch if you've never done one before, hope I done it right. I'll try and put the water box in, I'd put the whole pump together but my Impeller housings cracked..... And is it supposed to just slide over the impeller my cracked one acts like the impellers to big????

so i decided to make a X-h20 LKN plate....

Well yesterday got the electric box, waterbox, gas tank, and battery box in. Turfed the tray and one side. Are there any pointers I should know while doing this first build:biggrin: Turf didn't come out professional like some of you guys, and others I see on here but it'll work this summer I hope, gotta rebuild it next winter anyway, set it up for surf. I have called the country store a few times and had them peek across 150 to see if there cars are there. There cars are never there. Either they moved or something not good went down.

After I ride this weekend, I will put it on the trailer backwards so I can do the starboard side next week. Found a crack in the hood under the goo. Not too bad, I will run it like it is and maybe patch with marine-tex when I get time.
Ordered fresh numbers from Overtons (plus boots, gloves and a cap) to pimp it out just a little bit. :biggthumpup:

I have called the country store a few times and had them peek across 150 to see if there cars are there. There cars are never there. Either they moved or something not good went down.

At this point Corey, I would be happy if you gave me the exact address since I dont have it. Then I could just ask the police to do a stop by when they have time. Im guessing they moved.

$10 heat gun from harbor freight and a paint scraper takes them off like butter. be careful you dont get the ski too hot. while the goo is still warm, hit it with lots of Goo Gone and let it sit for 5 minutes. I then used a plastic fiberglass spreader to scrape off most of the goop. some more goo gone, a rag, and elbow grease and it is clean. :smile:
now it needs some wax!

How many of you guys are riding the stock glass pole?
and for the ones that are who's wonting shorten the pole (with out cutting)?


i'm going to fab up a custom plate -2 or -2.5 turn plate that utilizes the stock hardware so all you need is the stock pole. no more $100 UMI worthless kit:sneaky:

its designed to mount on the stock pole.
so if you can mount the stock steering on the AC pole it should work.
however i have never held a ac pole

I considered quitting this Saturday because of all this, however, since I'm still in debt I think I will have to hold off till next weekend.
